In this era where oceans meet land and nature coexists with human civilization, coastal regions have become vital stages for hu-man societal development, distinguished by their unique geographical locations, abundant resources, and diverse cultural back-grounds. As we face global climate change, accelerating urbanization, and increasing demands for high-quality living environ-ments, the development and sustainability of coastal human settlements present unprecedented opportunities and challenges. It is with great pleasure that we announce the launch of Coastal Human Settlements, a journal dedicated to addressing these critical issues.
