Coastal Human Settlements was established in 2024 as a peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to advancing research on coastal communities, urban development, and human adaptation in coastal zones. Since its inception, the journal has been committed to maintaining high academic standards and increasing its visibility in the scholarly community.

The journal achieved its first major indexing milestone in 2024 with its inclusion in the Open Access Citation Index (OACI), demonstrating our commitment to quality open access publishing and rigorous peer review standards. This indexing ensures that research published in Coastal Human Settlements reaches a broader academic audience and receives appropriate recognition in the scholarly community.

Looking ahead, the journal has developed a strategic indexing roadmap for 2024-2026. We are actively working toward inclusion in several major academic databases, including Google Scholar, the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI). These planned indexing expansions align with our mission to enhance the journal's global reach and impact, particularly in regions where coastal development research is crucial for sustainable urban planning and climate adaptation.
